This is my latest ebay purchase. Thank goodness I am generally able to avoid the evil ebay, but I wanted to see some crochet patterns for vintage potholders. So, I went hunting and found this.

I bought it and wrote the person saying I'd like to buy another thing they had posted since - also a pattern book - if they would combine shipping. They never responded to my question and this arrived a day later. I'm guessing the answer to that question was "no."

You'd think people would want to sell more of the things they have for sale, but obviously these folks were more interested in making a little extra money on shipping and handling. Anyway, this is now safely in my possession and I am sharing the vintage crochet patterns with anyone who's interested. It's from 1939 and a company that's no longer around so I guess it's OK to share.

I love the little illustrations in it - very interesting, and the writing is just priceless - quite a time capsule.

I got to see Terry today, for the first time in ages. I met him and Joya and lots of their classmates downtown for lunch. We went to the restaurant in the bank and as I was leaving I ran into a few folks I know, including Nancy Shears and Dorothy Barnett. In one of those "small town" moments - Dorothy just accepted a new position that used to be held by Kris who just accepted a position working with Nancy. Ah, small town life.

Dorothy and I were the only folks at the Newcomers gathering tonight, but it was really nice to get to visit with her. We've been on some committees together, but tonight is the first time I've really gotten a chance to talk with her at any length. She will do a great job in this position with the growth coalition.

This afternoon I finished up the grant that was due today and got it sent. I love being in my office, looking out onto Main Street, watching the world go by as I work.

Today was my 5 year anniversary in this job. Oddly enough, I still feel "new" in it. I started on the Ides of March in 2002. Fortunately, it has been much better for me than it was for Ceasar.
